Teaching Philosophy
Personalized Teaching for Individual Goals
Every student is unique, with different goals, abilities, and challenges. My approach emphasizes tailoring instruction to each student’s specific needs. While some are highly ambitious and ready for challenging repertoire, others may simply enjoy music as a hobby and prefer lighter practice. I aim to understand each student’s objectives and guide them toward their fullest potential—whether that involves high standards for advanced students or simplified strategies for those with limited time. Music theory, historical context, and homework assessments serve as key tools to support these goals. I also recognize that students have diverse tastes; when they complete a piece, I respect their individual interpretations and expressions.

Connecting Music to Broader Audiences
While music may not be as critical to survival as food or technology, it profoundly enriches our lives and supports mental health. Students often practice to develop focus, discipline, and emotional expression, while audiences seek inspiration and imaginative experiences. As a teacher, I demonstrate the importance of performance by keeping my own skills sharp and performing regularly. This inspires students and underscores the lifelong value of musical discipline.
